documenting influences on our production
One of our main influences was a combination of these three things, the main antagonist in scream, Slender man and Donnie Yen. We also had several variations of influencing for this type of film from an anime called Mirrai Nikki, meaning future diary. For example, in the picture below we are shown that the two character are fighting, and one has a knife, which was our main reason for the antagonist having a weapon of some sort, where we were originally just going to have them fight bare handed, we thought that the knife would give the protagonist an unfair advantage. Another reason why we got the idea that the antagonist should have a knife is from the popular film series called Scream, where he wears a mysterious mask and stabs people, from that we also thought that the antagonist should be able to walk as well, stating that he is human and not some sort of ghostly figure, placing it slightly into the crime theme, however we also believed that in order to make our trailer creepier we thought that during the beginning of the trailer we would have the antagonist stand still during the first few clips, where it ensures that the audience are given the impression there is a hierarchy in power between the protagonist and antagonist, it also would suggest to them that there is no where for the protagonist to run. Also, we thought that a fight between the two character would be interesting since it is not very common in horror movies, although we will have to include two completely different ways of filming, which would be difficult for us but it would mean we could get some great shots and mix it in well, but instead of placing fast tense music for the fight we will have a slow sombre sound, suggesting that the protagonist has no way of winning but is fighting for his life.

This tutorial is another great one, since we are planning on creating a horror film but because it will be quite quirky, we are planning on having the protagonist fighting the antagonist, who although is a ghostly figure like the Slender man, the fight will be quite random but we will try and include all of the things that are in this tutorial, for example kicking, as we have people in our tutorial that do martial arts the fighting should be fairly easy, it will just be difficult to get the good camera work which is explained in this tutorial for example using a whip technique which is basically a fast panning of the camera, also another technique which is taught in this tutorial is that if someone is kicked they jump back in the air and fall of the floor, however the clip should be fairly fast since fighting is usually fast and tense. However this tutorial was also memorable since there was a lot of comedy in it, for example they had two people, one of them was visiting who was a stuntman, helping out teaching kicks, although his character was played out to be a cocky martial artist, it makes it more memorable, and overall the tutorial is great since it shows us what camera angles to use and some basic kicks to use for effectiveness in creating a good martial arts film.

Own film treatment
for the beginning of our film we plan on having quite a fast paced tense feeling, for example we will
have the main character limping away from the antagonist, then suddenly it cuts back into the main character looking up into the camera, with a narration introduced, however we were also thinking that we should have someone yell up at him, since our protagonist is a teenager but a keen martial artist, we will have someone e.g. like a mother yelling up into the protagonists' room from downstairs or outside the room, the character then closes his eyes and the camera fades whilst some happy music is introduced, completely changing the scenery from the first clip, where the main character is walking down a road either with his friends, whilst a dolly shot from the front is capturing them, however whilst his friends are talking and being all cheery, the main protagonist has a look of sadness on his face as if he knows something is about to happen, looking down onto the ground, the narration is carrying on, and the sounds of his friends talking are echoing so it is hard to fully make out what they are saying, for example it'll sound like children playing in a park, where it is hard to make out.
About halfway into our trailer we are then planning on having a few quick cuts back into the antagonist chasing the protagonist, whilst the clip of the main character looking at the ground with his eyes, then the camera cuts to a low angle extreme close up of his face, showing a tear slipping out of his eye, then the camera scene falls apart in a transition, then fully cuts into the protagonist being chased by the antagonist, then the protagonist is hiding somewhere, collapses, the music then changes, when the antagonist is standing infront of the protagonist whilst he closes his eyes, he starts attacking the antagonist who is carrying a weapon of some sort.
after the fight finishes, ending in the protagonist lying down on the floor with a knife in his stomach, the antagonist staring down at him, captured from a low angle shot, there is then another birds eye view shot of the main character looking up, but crying since he is about to die, also gurgling out blood from his mouth. We were either planning on having the main character looking up peacefully dying whilst the antagonist either walks away slowly or just stands above him, or we were planning on having the main character crawling away from the antagonist who then slowly walks behind him and finally kills him.
Then for our ending we were planning on having a few panning shots, along with some flashback memories of the protagonist, where we do a few panning shots of some fields with wind, showing a blissful ending.
Planning: Own film idea brainstorm
First of all, we start the trailer cutting straight into a low angle shot at close up distance capturing the main character Zenu holding his arm, injured and in pain, with heavy panting, capturing the sounds of his footsteps and sweat on his face, as well as a panicked expression on his face, constantly looking around as if being hunter, shot lasts for several seconds, cuts to an over the shoulder shot from the front, showing half of Zeno's face, wide eyed suddenly halts, if possible the camera first focuses on Zeno's ace and then towards the background, where the antagonist is seen just slightly, the camera then changes to a fade to black, eerie music is then introduced.
For the next clip, a narration is introduced, explaining Zeno's story, whilst several shots pan around the area, showing the scenery, suddenly the narration cuts when a shot captures the antagonist staring into the distance who is captured by a panning shot capturing the environment, then the antagonist looks towards the camera suddenly, as soon as this point is reached the music narration and camera halts. leaving an eerie feel, when the camera cuts, just after the antagonist looks at the camera a second after the transition to black, a millisecond long jump scare of a extreme close up shot showing the antagonists face, in this case the horse mask, suddenly changing the mood of the horror film.
The camera then cuts into a high angle birds eye shot of the main character looking up towards the camera in his bedroom, lying down as if just woken up, with an eerie light, this is mainly due to the fact that we want the audience to be able to understand the story behind the protagonist. Also, we decided that we would have some creepy music, although we thought that it would be difficult for us to initially create a song, we went all over you tube to find a non copyrighted song, and we came across a channel which was offering it's songs to the public, as long as we credited them at the end of the trailer, they gave us permission to use this, also we decided not to use any free songs since many other people would be most likely using it.
Audience research

We first decided that we would have an age rating of 15, since we are including fake blood into our film, although many of the younger generation have been exposed to much more violence such as video games. we are planning on including fairly graphic scene were someone is stabbed and blood is pouring out of their neck, which in itself would make it an 18, but we still decided that a 15 is best, although bordering it, it won't be nearly as graphic as we want it to be. Also, we are not including any nudity or sexual scenes, so that is the main reason why we thought that age rating was best. Also, we believe that the irony of the horse mask on the intimidating character would make it funny, so if it was an 18 people may question the age rating a bit more.
Also, we believe that the main gender to watch our trailer would be teenagers, since it isn't a full on comedy or horror film, it does include a fair amount of action, for example some fighting and a stabbing , which many young teenagers would want to see since those things are enjoyable at that age, they would want to see more action than for example a middle aged woman or man who may just sigh at the mess that they are watching. Also, although many horror movies can be dull and copy each other, ours will try to be fairly unique and quirky, so that it would have a specific audience to watch it, and we believe this to be a younger generation, also we believe that in our case the gender doesn't matter as much, so we thought that both genders at this age would enjoy or at least find some parts funny about it, as well as it would confuse the audience since one moment there is creepy music and the next moment a ghostly paranormal horse is fighting a hippie.
Location Research
For our location research we decided that we would set ourselves in the woods for the first few clips to our movie and towards the ending, this is mainly because it adds to the creepy eerie feel that we want to produce to show the audience. However although this may be fairly overly used in horror movies such as Cabin In The Woods, we also want to clarify that we have not taken any ideas from the movie, but have instead had inspiration from mythical creatures such as Slenderman. A game had been made about him which is played in the woods with a few building, which we are lucky to have, so we are
able to include a small building as well as woods
into our trailer, both having a creepy effect.
Along with the theme of the woods we are planning to use the inside of a scout hut, although it won't look nearly as good as the picture shown to the left, we will try our best to choose a good time so that the lighting is as eerie as it can be, although there will only be a few short scenes set in the scout hut, we plan on mainly using the woods as the setting, and plan to use them as an establishing shot.
Since there are a few fields nearby to where we are filming at the Oxshott scout hut, we thought that we could do a few panning shots around the field whilst the character is talking about his story, this is to show the audience the setting, and hopefully depending on the weather we are able to get a good shot, for example if it is raining we can enhance the sound of the rain, or if it is sunny we can end the panning shot/ shots with it facing towards the sun, bringing some flares. A field is a good setting for a horror movie since it is so vast and plain, where there could be anything.
Our final setting idea was that we would use someone's bedroom as a idea for the protagonist's house, where we were planning on doing a shot of the protagonists face, peaceful and tranquil, whilst a narration is introduced and creepy music starts taking over, however we were also planning on either starting off with a close angle birds eye shot of the protagonist looking up from his bed, then suddenly the camera cuts and we cut back into the chase scene, this setting would be good because the lighting could easily be manipulated.
Costume Research
First of all we decided that we would have a bit of a comedic feel to our trailer, mainly because we want it to be unconventional, we want it to be scary but for the audience to laugh at as well, something unique that would stay in their mind when they watch it. For this we decided that we would have our antagonist wear a horse mask and a trench coat, although it would be funny, it would be creepy as well, since people generally wouldn't be expecting it, they would be expecting the antagonist to be wearing a scary clown mask or something a long those lines.
We then thought that along with the horse mask the antagonist should wear a trench coat, to make it seem more mysterious, and it would also be a fairly darkish colour, so that the horse mask sticks out more in the audience's mind, we also thought that if we were to dress our antagonist in normal civilian clothing then it wouldn't be as memorable.
We were then thinking of mixing some boots along with the trench coat and the horse mask for the antagonist, this is mainly to make him look taller and more intimidating than the protagonist, who will be wearing trainers along with some other clothing that I will get into later. Also, boots would make the antagonist seem like he conforms the role of a detective of some sort, so it would confuse the audience, although they wouldn't be spending so much time looking at the boots but looking at the mask instead.
In the first few clips our antagonist will be wearing a torn shirt, although it is annoying since we have to destroy a shirt in the name of film, we thought this would be a worth sacrifice. This is mainly due to the fact that we want to make the audience realise that he had been in some sort of conflict with the antagonist, who is following the protagonist, but not walking...
Then we decided that the protagonist should wear a basic pair of old jeans, which we will cover in some sort of liquid which looks like blood, as well as the shirt. We thought jeans would be best fitted for our protagonist since we want him to be a normal human who is being hunted by our antagonist, kind of like a cliché teen horror movie.
Soundtrack research
For our soundtrack we decided that a slow, creepy and eerie music should set the main theme for the trailer, this is mainly due to the fact that we are going to do a horror movie. We found a non copyrighted song which we thought would fit directly for our trailer, although we would have to figure out how to take out sections of the song and put them into different parts of the trailer, since the song is fairly long lasting about 2:30 minutes. Since we don't want our trailer to be too long, we decided to cut down the song a bit into different pieces, so that we can then take those parts and put them into the clips and sequences which were best suited for that part. However with this song that we had found, we had to ask the creator for his/her permission, which they then accepted and said it was fine that we could use it for our trailer, although it isn't the absolute best, it is a pretty good song that can set the mood, with a few jump scares which we thought would fit perfectly with out trailer at certain points, since we wanted to have a certain part where the antagonist of the horror movie is behind the protagonist, and a sudden burst of loud music would make it twice as good.
However we did look for some more songs, but we couldn't find many good uncopyrighted songs, since the majority of the channels on YouTube only had made mix tapes out of several various songs, and we would therefore have to pay for the licencing for that song, even then that would make us vulnerable as they could have scammed us, so it was best that we found this song and were given permission to use it. The reason we didn't choose any upbeat music or didn't use media fire was because the quality isn't too good, also the majority of the songs would have been used by other students, resulting in a less popular trailer since they would have already heard the song, also it would make it more boring for the people watching it.
Since we were going for the horror theme, we initially decided that a fast sudden music should be put in straight away, however we had some disagreements with each other and decided to discuss what the best way around deciding the song was, since I had already written out the beginning part of our trailer, what i thought was suited more was a slow theme, to build up the tension and maybe suddenly stop or to build it up to a jump scare, so that people know that it is coming, but they don't know when, so it is sudden, much like many classical horror movies for example Insidious.
I then showed my friend the song and we both read the ideas and thought that the slow build up theme was the best, although it may be overused in many films, it never gets old.
Iron Man trailer analysis
Iron Man Trailer Analysis:
Synopsis:
the Iron man movie is a superhero film that was released to the audience in around 2008 it showcases the marvel comics character iron man. produced by marvel studios and distributed by paramount studios. it is also the first movie in the the series of iron man. The film was directed by Jon favreau, with a screenplay by Mark Fergus and Hawk ostby. In iron man the main protagonist is Tony stark, an industrialist and master engineer, to prove his skills he decides to build a powered exoskeleton and becomes the super powered iron man. due to the commercial success of iron man, a sequel was made after that iron man 2, which continued to success and story of its predecessor. The Movie was aimed at kids, the movie is a superhero genre movie, so the target audience would be influenced and aspire to be like the superhero's portrayed in the movies, they would try to mimic what Tony stark does for example, the movie producers know this therefore they cleverly make a huge box office from the movie as a result.Camera Composition and shots: the camera shots are varied and different in iron man, for example there is several close up shots of Tony stark's facial expressions, when he is kidnapped, he shows expressions of fear and anger, during after with his friend professor yin sen, Tony greets him and a over-the-shoulder shot is shown between them when they are having a conversation with each other. it also shows when Tony is first in the iron man suit he has facial expressions of excitement and happiness as he has a chance to be the hero that everyone wants. and he also wanted to use his fame and fortune and resources to do something effective. we also see more shots of Tony when he is flying up in the sky with his assistant pepper, and the two have many romantic moments together in the movie, we see over the shoulder shots between the 2 of them and close up shots of pepper's facial expressions, most of the camera shots in the movie are over-the-shoulder shots, and close-ups.
Mise En Scene: The Movie iron man is mainly set in at the beginning war-torn Afghanistan, we see much scenery, such as the deserted, abandoned desolate land of the once lush Afghanistan but now stricken with war, and the many bruises and causalities of the conflict. we see the brutalities involved in the conflict as well, such as the soldiers, the bombs, the loss of life and much more, all make the audience feel a sense of unease about the movie, as it sets it straight that war is not a good thing. afterwards however stark escapes and goes back to the city of New York, in Manhattan, the comparison between the two is astounding, while Afghanistan has a war-stricken atmosphere, with so much grief and poverty, in New York, the city is a rich metropolis, with many huge and tall buildings everywhere, Tony stark himself is a billionaire, therefore the stark contrast between the two places is directly shown in the movie.
Sound: Within the movie iron man we see a lot of diegetic sound mainly, for example when Tony is first in Afghanistan we see and hear missiles being fired and bombs/led's exploding, we also see this happening on screen therefore it is diegetic, however we also experienced non-diegetic sound within the movie as we hear Tony stark talking with his colleagues, and this was not shown actually on the screen therefore it is non-diegetic.
Editing: Editing was also prevalent in the trailer and the movie itself, as we see quick flashy-fight scenes between Tony and the enemy robots, we see match-on action as the two shots were edited to first show Tony's facial expression and ready for battle mode, but then casually speaking to his assistant, this was done effectively as it made the movie seem more comical while still retaining seriousness. More editing is shown when Tony test's out the suit for the first time and crashes down onto a car, the shot changes from the cars to Tony falling at high speed.
What we find out about the plot: Tony stark is first in Afghanistan, with a team of U.S soldiers, in these first few scenes he is portrayed as a megalomaniac, who thinks that by attacking Afghanistan with dozens of missiles will achieve peace. after this Tony gets captured by a terrorist group, and forced to make them objects, such as armour and weapons. he gets saved eventually and makes his way back to New York, this leads to a new chapter in Tony's life where he makes a new suit of armour and turns into the hero iron-man and finds a romantic love interests in the role of his assistant pepper.
Happy feet analysis trailer
Happy feet trailer analysis:
Overview: The movie happy feet is a animated film which was made in Sydney, the movie itself stars a cast including actors such as, Robin Williams, Hugh Jackman, Brittany Murphy and many more. Happy feet is well known for being a successful film. A interesting fact about the movie is also that Warner bros was on too tight of a budget to release the movie on Imax 3D, this meant that the movie could have sparked a lot more interest and got a ton more popularity if they had a higher budget, happy feet made a lot of success at box office and made more than enough, meaning that it was a great film which had a lot of success, unfortunately this was put down a bit by its sequel.
Mise En Scene: Within the movie happy feet the scenery and props are computer-generated meaning that it is not actual, however it was still done very well, and was high-definition. The theme of the movie is a icy-snowy atmosphere about the story of penguins, The movie itself was actually part-inspired by the BBC documentary Life in a Freezer. therefore the scenery was actually pretty realistic, as it is based on a real-life documentary. the props, include computer-generated penguins, the main characters being a penguin by the name of mumble, and Gloria. we see the penguins interacting with each other, throughout the film, The penguins, life cycle is shown throughout the movie, such as the birth of the egg, and the enduring and suffering the father has to partake in, to make sure the egg is warm enough to hatch and survive.
Mumbles being the main character is sometimes also deserted, on his own, this suggests that mumble is a particularly important penguin and also needs to do a lot throughout the movie to prove himself and almost 'earn' his partner and or family.
Camera shots/Composition: Within the movie happy feet, we see all sorts of came shots, and different angles throughout the movie to add fleur, and generally make the movie seem more like a animated film, We see over the shoulder shots, when Gloria and both mumble are together, and showing their romantic love with each other, this is effective in my opinion because it details the romance they have for each other. we also see more camera shots of mumble's parents, Memphis and Norma Jean, when they are holding their son in the movie we see close-ups of mumbles facial expressions of happiness and a almost sound relief.
Editing: Throughout the movie and in the trailer we see evident scenes and shots that have been edited throughout, one example of this is the different songs and dancing throughout the movie, this had to be choreographed and edited specially by the design crew, more editing, is when mumble switches from a kid to a adult, this had to be done specifically in accordance with the directors wishes as they wanted it similar to the aforementioned BBC documentary, we see editing in the from of the animation as well, the animation had to be high-definition, and make it look realistic but yet include a child-friendly element so that it doesn't become too realistic.
Sound: The sound in the movie is prevalent throughout as being mainly diegetic as the majority of sound is coming from objects which are actually on the screen, like the screaming, shouting and dancing all coming from the penguins who are present there. and the sound is also coming from the voice actors who are playing the different actors voices.
What we find out about the plot: the plot revolves around mumble, a penguin who is the son of Memphis and Norma, supposedly having 'Happy' feet and always dancing, finding love with a female penguin called Gloria this is the main focus of the plot, however mumble also gets himself in quite a few troublesome situations as well and is at one point forced the leave the penguin colony and essentially fend for himself, this is the main plot in the movie..

Toy story movie analysis
Toy Story Movie analysis:
Overview: Toy story is a american animated movie which was released to the public audience in 1995, it is a relatively old movie, but considered a classic, its main target audience is towards families and children, and is also considered one of the greatest and most successful animated films of all time. Directed mainly by John lasseter, The movie of toy story essentially details the story of a group of real-life toys who are animated, and tells the story of their owner, the relationship they have with their owner, and the different minor troublesome situations they find themselves in. The main protagonist in the movie is woody- a cowboy doll, who has the greatest relationship with Andy- the owner, out of all the toys. The movie features many notable well-known actors such as Tom hanks, Tim Allen, and don rickels, not to mention a whole other bunch of actors. The Movie quite evidently had a lot of success so much so that two other sequels were commissioned straight after, toy story 2 and toy story 3.
Mise En Scene: Within the movie toy story, the scenery is animated, therefore there is not much realism, however the animation is generally done well, it includes many props, such as toys, normal furniture in a room, and generally a suburban atmosphere. The characters are a bunch, of anthropomorphic toys, so they appear to be lifeless, when people are around them, but they come to life and speak, when humans are not around. the scenery also includes people, such as the owner Andy and their next-door neighbour Sid, who is a bit of a troubled kid. we also see more scenery in the form of deformed toys, who live in Sid's house. generally the mise en scene within the movie is appropriate for a children's target audience, as most of it is to do with kids, anyway essentially being a movie about children and their relation ship to toys.
Camera shots/angles Within the movie toy story there is many camera shots and angles which are shown throughout the movie's for example, we see many facial-expression close up shots of woody's face. and we see
e many birds-eye view shots when the toys get themselves into a troublesome situation, they get lost at a arcade, and have to find their way back to Andy's house, this proves good for them as woody develops his initially hostile relationship with buzz and the two become the best of friends. we also see more camera shots and angles, we see over-the shoulder shots when little bo-peep is on the scene who is woody's romantic love interest, and they talk together, we see mid-shots also between woody and Sid's toys as they are supposedly trying to attack him.
The shots and camera angles in the movie are done well, however some particular shots could have been used perhaps slightly more effectively, like instead of so many close-up shots we could have had double shots.
Sound: Within the movie toy story the sound is mainly diegetic sound, we hear many different sound-effects and noises typical of a suburban-neighbourhood, with a twist as the toys are real we hear woody exclaim in a crazy manner, when buzz first comes into Andy's room and is introduced to the rest of the characters. we also hear the buzzes and nearby horns of cars, as well as the whistling air, all this sound is mainly diegetic.
Editing: in the movie we see some editing, for example we see woody's facial expression change from seriousness to a sly smile, as he is about to do something to buzz, the camera then quickly flicks to buzz falling out the window, this shows evident match-on-action and is done effectively and appropriately. during the movie making process crew members said that it was hard to find the exact quality of the film during the making-process, this suggests that the film was complex to make, however and also might have been left incomplete graphics wise.
What we find out about the plot: the plot of the movie revolves around, woody and a group of toys coming to life whenever they are not humans, a new toy suddenly emerges as a birthday present- buzz light year, this causes some argument to ensue as woody feels he is being neglected by Andy, and feels as buzz is 'stealing' his friends, a incident occurs and buzz falls out of a window, woody finds buzz and rescues him from sids house, after which they must travel back to Andy's house where it is safe, a lot of trouble occurs on the way and a budding new friendship is developed between buzz and woody.

The Incredible hulk (2003) trailer analysis
The Incredible Hulk Trailer Analysis:
Mise En Scene: In the movie we see that it is set in Chicago, los Angeles, within the first scenes of the movie it dictates a science-fiction sort of atmosphere and background, for example we see the interaction between Bruce banner and his scientist colleagues, as well as the lab in which he regularly works at, we also see a cameo of famed- body-builder and actor Lou feriggno, as well as Stan lee with him. we also see that the main protagonist Eric bana has problems with relationships, as one of his colleagues, Betty Ross, used to be involved with him, however due to complications had to break off the relationship, we see many events take place in the movie which are shown throughout, for example when ruthless ex-soldier major glen Talbot, offers banner, and Ross a chance to work in their organisation for self -healing soldiers, however they refuse, and leads to a number of events and rivalry between Talbot and banner.
In the movie the scenery and props are arranged well, and we see scenes such as helicopters and planes-shooting missiles at the hulk to capture him. generally most of the action we saw was computer-animated however some of it was real, most of it was very effective and the target audience liked it.
Camera shots/composition: Within the movie we see various camera shots and angles, both of the hulk and different points of view. for example in the movie it focuses mainly on portraying the hulks anger, as that is mainly what the green behemoth is about, so we see many close-up shots of the different transformations within the movie, for example when hulk first transforms, in the lab we see him confront his father for the first time. We see a close-up of hulks facial expression, he at first looks calm/sad to see his father, but then his expression quickly turns to rage, and he crumples the building rooftop and jumps a mile away. Another camera angle shot we see is the hulk and his jumps from one place to another, we see a -birds-eye view shot, of him jumping from the red cliff to another cliff, this is done very effectively as we imagine that we are the hulk jumping from one place to another, it provides quite a exhilarating experience, and creates a beautiful escapism atmosphere.
Sound: The sound within the movie hulk was mainly diegetic, for example the various artillery noises within the movie, like the tank scene firing missiles and heavy gun fire at the hulk, we see mainly hostile noises in the movie as everyone wants to kill the hulk or just plain imprison him. the sound was very well done and effective, and i feel the movie as a whole is interesting.
What we find out about the plot: we find out about the plot that we see the journey of Bruce banner, his relationships and interactions with the people around him, he has generally a good job, good life, however all of that is changed when a freak gamma incident takes place in his lab, by a colleague of his called harper. This turns Bruce banner into the hulk and whenever he experiences intense emotions such as anger/sadness he turns into the hulk. This makes the military want him as they see him as too dangerous to be kept alive, so he must move, his relationship with Betty and people is tested to the limit and in the end he makes the ultimate sacrifice, for the greater good of the planet.
Editing: The editing in the movie is not that clear. It is evident that there definitely is editing within the movie such as when hulk moves at speed next to the helicopters, the camera quickly switches to his hand and then other angles, however in other scenes it is harder to place down, if there is editing done at all.

Man of Steel Analysis Trailer
Man Of Steel Trailer Analysis
Overview: Man of steel is a superhero film directed by Zack Snyder, based on the world-renowned and legendary comic book character superhero superman. It was also written by David . s. goyer, and stars very famous and great actors, such as henry cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane lane to name but a few. The story generally revolves around a reboot, so its not directly connected to the previous movie superman returns, it centres around superman's origin story, how he came to be of earth, what it is like growing up on earth with all these amazing powers at his disposal, and the choices he must make, which inevitably determine the fate of the entire planet.
Mise En Scene: Man of steel is based in the fictional city metropolis, Metropolis is said to be based around new York city and what the environment is like during the daytime. While its sister city, Gotham city, is based around New York at night-time. the scenery and the graphics in man of steel are amazing, the scenery is hugely realistic and futuristic, during certain scenes within the movie, it shows a spaceship- which is meant to resemble the one which Clark was sent to earth on as a boy, ever since then, he has been wondering around the earth wondering about his origins, how he came to be and why he came to be. During another scene in man of steel, we see Clark kents home, on a farm, this scenery is done beautifully and effectively as Clark, within the movie we know from the comics lives on a farm, and we see the different props, such as cows, and barnyard animals, this comes into contact with clarks personality, in which he is well known for being a 'boy scout'. and this comes into touch with him being a particularly benevolent character. The scenery generally is done well within the movie, and is highly effective,
Within the movie, we also see how the stage is arranged, and how the characters suits, are made and how they are they are able to do such things such as being able to fly, Zack the director did all this by going sperlunking with henry cavill and generally attaching some ropes to him and sending him falling, feet first at huge heights, this was to prepare him physically for the role of superman, and to get used to what it is like flying at those speeds. The scenery also included showing views of the planet, this comes into the fact that superman is a alien, and so showing intergalactic scenery is appropriate, this was well done as it made the audience feel as if they were actually flying themselves.
Camera shots/composition Within the movie of man of steel there is a huge array of camera shots and composition, for example when the credits are first introduced we see close shot facial expressions of Lara- (clarks mother), and her joy at Clark being born, however seconds later this is changed to fear at their planet about to witness its destruction. This is done very effectively and well, as I thought that it stayed true to the comics. we also see more camera shots, such as when Clark is having a conversation with his adopted father Jonathan Kent, and we see his disarray expressions, due to being treated like a little kid. we see over the shoulder shots as well, when he is next to Jonathan. This is done effectively, however there were mostly facial expression shots during the first half of the movie, the second half had much more action to it, for example during the battle with the rogue kryptonians, we see very fast hand to hand combat action. we also see several over the shoulder shots between faora and Clark. This is done very well, as viewers complained that the previous movie superman returns did not have enough action, however this as certainly not a problem in this movie, as it had plentiful action.
Sound: During the movie we see a lot of synchronous sound, because most of the sound effects, such as the heat vision, and superman punching buildings, links in with what is actually taking place on screen. There is mostly diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound, it was done well, Hans zimmer composed many of the themes and music made in the movie, such as look to the stars, and clarks birth, he also altered the superman theme for man of steel specially and it is quite different to the world famous superman theme.
Editing: within the movie there is a lot of fast-paced editing, notably within the battle scenes especially the final battle, which consists superman going at it with zod, in a mighty battle, we see very powerful hand to hand by superman who smashes buildings as if they were paper, we see match on action, and shots with superman clenching his fist then faoras facial expression as she gets sent flying through several buildings.
What we generally find out about the story/plot: generally Within the movie we find out that Superman, the protagonist is essentially a god with amazing given powers, which most people could barely even imagine about, the story is essentially about a god trying to live among mortals, and the trials he must face to either do the right thing and 'stand proud among the human race' or not. He comes into confrontation with his power and that with great power come great responsibility.

Blood and bones trailer analysis
Blood And Bones Movie Trailer Analysis:
Mise en scene: the movie takes place in los Angeles, where underground fights take place, and are being held, one night after involving a match with the local champion called Hammer man, bone makes a deal with the promoter pinball to set up a fight with him and the champion and beats the hammer man. the movie itself has a street dark atmosphere to it. It includes tons of fights under the counter where bets and gambling is involved, for this reason the movie has a dark, eery atmosphere to it and shows the dangers of what can happen if you lead a life of crime and where it can lead. and it also has a lot of city scenery, for example the cars and the street fighters, all dictate life in the city and the dangers as well as the good things in the city. it also shows graffiti and a lot of gang crime, for example in one scene Roberto has to tell some drug dealers dealing in his neighborhood to leave the place, it connotes that a lot of danger has befallen near the protagonist.
What we find out about the plot: In the movie we find out a lot about the plot, for example the main protagonist is some kind of martial artist/fighter, he went to prison for a short time. He moves to los Angeles for a while and was friends with a inmate in prison, who went by the name of Danny, who is the female protagonist's husband, however was murdered by JC and his crew. we find out that bone is actually a good guy and despite going into prison for a while he is not like the other violent, volatile criminals which he was around for a certain period of time. the main plot basically revolves around bone getting back Angela her kid, whom she had to give up for adoption a long time ago, as well as making money, so that he could begin the next journey after the events of the movie, as well as getting rid of Angela's drug addiction, he mainly did this to repay Danny his friend in prison.
we also see bone's skills as a fighter, his first underground fight in the movie, and he knocks out another opponent with just two kicks, he uses his skills to survive in the movie and beat the gangster James at his own game. The plot gradually develops in the movie, where bone sees the people he loves get killed, people he even just met, this shows that he is perhaps not meant to be around people, and also shows that his strength of character as he still stays true to his morals.
Camera shots/composition: within the movie blood and bone we see a lot of different camera shots and angles all of which were used to make the movie more effective and fun, some include the facial expression of bones face as he defeated hammer man, the undefeated underground fighter, more shots include over the shoulder shots of bone vs. James in the finale fight which ensues due to bone having gotten on James nasty side in recent events, and being hostile to one another, as well as James being the main antagonist anyway. Another camera shot is a mid shot of bone as he is talking to pinball about making a deal with him 40/60 or 20/80 if pinball doesn't use his own money in defeating the fighters. These shots are effective because while showing the background story of bone it also shows different parts of bones character simply through the facial expressions he makes, for example we can tell if he is angry, at ease or a combination.
another shot is when bone is seen at the end walking into the distance and a quote from Genghis khan is shown on the screen "I am the punishment of god, and if you had not committed such sins god would not have sent a punishment like me upon you". it shows a far shot of bone walking into the distance. This is effective because it shows a good shot of bone and portrays him as a once-in-a-blue-moon lone warrior of sorts.
Sound: Within the movie blood and bone several sound effects are used. This is mainly due to the fact that this is a action/fighting movie and so there are a variety of weapons and noises. For example when bone is seen fighting with James towards the end of the film, we hear the subtle but deadly slice of the katana, and the noise of James arm being cut off with a scream of pain in the distance afterwards. This is effective as it is diegetic sound, and mainly uses the similar sound patterns as other movies, but with more variation. We also hear some non-diegetic sound, such as first title credit in which bone punches the screen it plays well with the whole theme of the film with the fighting and prison scene.
Editing: within the movie there is also several editing scenes as well, for example in one scene there is a fast paced scene, where James gets his arm cut off, it quickly flicks to bone's bemused expression in which he says "I'll see you later". and we see more fast-paced action when bone has a shootout in a club and James sends his henchmen after him, and we see quick flash editing where bones hand switches to get the gun, and we see him rapidly shoot and kill all of James men, this is very well done and effective.

Mr beans holiday trailer analysis
Mr Beans Holiday Trailer Analysis:
Mise En Scene: The film is set in France with a summery, summery sort of background with lots of emphasis and reference to the beach, it also has scenes towards the end where they are on a film set and Mr bean is trying to give the child he befriended back to his father, however misunderstandings occur and Bean is found having to knock guards out, the scenery is very pleasant in the movie and gives a sense of escapism as we the audience want to escape from our ordinary lives to have fun and play at the beach. the film also includes reference to different languages and cultures, such as bean is mistaken for being Russian at first, as well as the little boy he befriends even speaking Russian phrases throughout to bean to play along with his ruse. generally the scenery is well done, and very beautiful, with several elements throughout,
Camera Composition/angles: Within the Movie there are several low angle shots, and high angle shots, among others to name, for example when bean is in the airport terminal near the beginning, it is shown a close angle shot of bean's face, in which he makes a grotesque facial expression, at the camera, this is hilarious to the audience, as bean is considered to be not the brightest guy. Another shot is when bean, the woman and the little boy he befriends are overlooking Cannes, the shot is a far angle shot of the entire city, and is a breathtaking view for the audience as it shows the real beauty of the country. another camera shot/angle is when bean is getting in a car with his female companion and there is a over the shoulder shot between him and her facial expressions, which shows her misunderstanding of bean's home language, making this a funny scene of the conversation between the both of them,
Sound: The sound within the movie has diegetic sound mainly and has beach music in accordance with the film, it has bean making unorthodox sounds as usual such as weird grunts and voices which rowan atkinson voices, he also says oui oui, as a funny dialect. The movie is mainly aimed at kids therefore most of the sound in the movie has a relaxing, chilling aura to it to increase the amount of influence at kids.
What we find out about the plot: within the movie there are several plot twists and potholes, all of which make the movie much more intricate and humorous to watch, when bean is first mixed up at the train station, he befriends a boy who afterwards is found to be the son of a famous director, funnily enough the boy is reported as being missing afterwards, and so bean is looked as a criminal, this makes the audience laugh, as bean is a comical character and for him to be looked at as a dangerous criminal is hugely ironic. we also see bean dancing in one of the scenes, as quite a well known scene, this scene is funny for the audience because it portrays bean as what he is- the hugely funny man who always gets himself intro trouble. we also find out how bean also helps a woman along the way, to have a much bigger part in her film, in this sense he almost has romantic interest within her, at the end of the movie all the cast come together and sing la mer down at the beach, which bean had wanted all along-to hang at the beach.

kill bill movie trailer analysis
Kill Bill Movie Trailer Analysis:

Camera Composition: The establishing shot used for this film trailer is an extreme close up shot of a trigger of a pistol, which could tell the audience that someone is under threat, or there is an execution about to happen, the trigger being pulled also can resemble that a climax has been reached and a villain or hero has been caught. Following this there is a P.o.V shot of a bullet being loaded into a revolver, followed on from the establishing shot. Following this, there is a dolly shot following a woman walking down a hallway, in symmetry with the persons' thighs. afterwards, there is a reverse zoom shot going from eye level to low angle, facing upwards towards the character's face, who is holding a sword, whilst tilted at the same time, allowing a feeling of vertigo, also implying that something is about to happen, e.g. a sword fight. There is then a still shot of Uma Thurman drinking something out of a mug, at eye level and a use of a mid shot to emphasize a coming storm.
The next shot is very interesting because it is mainly used in horror movies, for example a camera technique called the whip, which is an extremely quick panning shot from a character throwing something to another character following the 180* fashion, which is then combined with the blurring of the screen slightly, then generally followed by a still shot or a P.O.V shot of the person who is at the receiving end of the throw, say a antagonist, to show the audience that the thrown weapon has struck them. Next there is a low angle shot capturing four characters looking down, presumably a P.O.V shot of some antagonists, but from the protagonists' view, which shows the audience that those characters have power and that they are strong, or it could be interpreted that they have dominance over the main character. Following this there is a sort sequence of zooming, still and panning eye level shots of several characters, possibly to introduce them to the audience, which in turn makes the audience wonder what is happening and who they are, what role they have in the film, but since the protagonist in this film is a female, the audience can assume that the other females are protagonists as well.
Editing: At the very beginning of the trailer, there is a very fast paced theme introduced, where there is a short quick sequence of shots which connotates that there is something important about to happen. Although there is no CGI and special effects, there is a heavy use of fade into black transitions in between each clip. There is then a quick transition which is just a simple blur transition from one character to another, which could also imply that those two are enemies, or that one of the characters is approaching the other.
There is also a large continuity of transitions which do not fade into anything, but simply transition from one clip to another, which makes the clips seem faster, relating back to its genre of action films. Also this film relies heavily on the use of match on action, for example when a character is throwing a dart through a tradition Japanese window.
There are also quite a few creative transitions used later on throughout the trailer, for example a bullet travelling across the screen, in this case horizontally, which is a cliché transition since it also connotates the action genre.
Mise en scene: This film includes a wide range of props, for example, a wide range of Oriental weapons, e.g. a katana, a dagger, and darts, and a many tradition oriental clothing. This connotative with the action genre because many people expect to see some sort of weapons or something which is capable of killing, even if it is just a knife, which is trademark in horror movies. There are also face masks, which add anonymity to the film, making the characters seem villainous, although many heroes wear that kind of clothing.
Although the film is set in America, there are many traditional oriental props, however there is also a pub bar which is shown near the end of the clip, implying that a modern theme is mixed in with the traditional.
The lighting changes throughout the trailer, for example it has a cartoonist theme to it, when a character Bill is introduced it shows his face is black and white, implying to the audience that he is an old ''master'' of some sort of martial art, and what the audience already know, that he is old.
Later on the setting changes into a snowy landscape, presumably in japan, which adds a cold, winter feel to the film.
Sound: The first sound is a gunshot, which was diegetic, following this there is a funky, song introduced, along with a narration from the main character, talking about who she is, and what happened, explaining to the audience in order for them to learn about the current state of the character.
There are some other diegetic sounds introduced, for example some characters talking to each other. The music changes to more of a fast paced, but still keeps the funky theme all throughout. Also, because the film has some comedic value to it, two characters are fighting, and one of their characters' daughter is shocked to see the house wrecked.
At the end of the trailer the music increases in dynamics.
Sky High movie analysis
Sky High Movie Trailer Analysis:
Mise En Scene: Within the movie it is set in a fictional high school called sky high, the school itself is on a bunch of clouds, floating in the sky, the scenery therefore shows the sky and clouds, an almost fantastical view from above, this is done well, as it gives the audience a sense of escapism wanting to escape from their daily lives, as imagining what life would be like living in the school would be great fun. The movie also contains many decorations around in the school which showcase the fact that it is a school for superheroes, and makes sure that the target audience viewing the movie don't get mixed up and think that it is a ordinary school.
we also see other scenery such as the typical American high school bus prop and we see typical teenagers within the high school as they a part of the film. as well as that we seel a typical suburban setting for the main protagonists home, this makes it seem like he is well-off and rich compared to the rest of his peers. mainly we see typical American middle class setting for this, however at the same time the creators and producers made it certain that there was to be no mix-up between this American made film and british films which usually include poor-lower backgrounds.
What we found out about the plot:
the plot predominantly is about a highschool kid who has super-powered parents who have all these incredible powers such as super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability and flight, while the kid( the main protagonist), does not have these powers to start off with anyway, he develops them later on in the film.
