Iron Man trailer analysis

Iron Man Trailer Analysis:

Synopsis:

the Iron man movie is a  superhero film that was released to the audience in around 2008 it showcases the marvel comics character iron man. produced by marvel studios and distributed by paramount studios. it is also the first movie in the the series of iron man. The film was directed by Jon favreau, with a screenplay by Mark Fergus and Hawk ostby. In iron man the main protagonist is Tony stark, an industrialist and master engineer, to prove his skills he decides to build a powered exoskeleton and becomes the super powered iron man. due to the commercial success of iron man, a sequel was made after that iron man 2, which continued to success and story of its predecessor. The Movie was aimed at kids, the movie is a superhero genre movie, so the target audience would be influenced and aspire to be like the superhero's portrayed in the movies, they would try to mimic what Tony stark does for example, the movie producers know this therefore they cleverly make a huge box office from the movie as a result.

Camera Composition and shots: the camera shots are varied and different in iron man, for example there is several close up shots of Tony stark's facial expressions, when he is kidnapped, he shows expressions of fear and anger, during after with his friend professor yin sen, Tony greets him and a over-the-shoulder shot is shown between them when they are having a conversation with each other. it also shows when Tony is first in the iron man suit he has facial expressions of excitement and happiness as he has a chance to be the hero that everyone wants. and he also wanted to use his fame and fortune and resources to do something effective.  we also see more shots of Tony when he is flying up in the sky with his assistant pepper, and the two have many romantic moments together in the movie, we see over the shoulder shots between the 2 of them and close up shots of pepper's facial expressions, most of the camera shots in the movie are over-the-shoulder shots, and close-ups.

Mise En Scene:  The Movie iron man is mainly set in at the beginning war-torn Afghanistan, we see much scenery, such as the deserted, abandoned desolate land of the once lush Afghanistan but now stricken with war, and the many bruises and causalities of the conflict. we see the brutalities involved in the conflict as well, such as the soldiers, the bombs, the loss of life and much more, all make the audience feel a sense of unease about the movie, as it sets it straight that war is not a good thing. afterwards however stark escapes and goes back to the city of New York, in Manhattan, the comparison between the two is astounding, while Afghanistan has a war-stricken atmosphere, with so much grief and poverty, in New York, the city is a rich metropolis, with many huge and tall buildings everywhere, Tony stark himself is a billionaire, therefore the stark contrast between the two places is directly shown in the movie.

Sound: Within the movie iron man we see a lot of diegetic sound mainly, for example when Tony is first in Afghanistan we see and hear missiles being fired and bombs/led's exploding, we also see this happening on screen therefore it is diegetic, however we also experienced non-diegetic sound within the movie as we hear Tony stark talking with his colleagues, and this was not shown actually on the screen therefore it is non-diegetic.

Editing:  Editing was also prevalent in the trailer and the movie itself, as we see quick flashy-fight scenes between Tony and the enemy robots, we see match-on action as the two shots were edited to first show Tony's facial expression and ready for battle mode, but then casually speaking to his assistant, this was done effectively as it made the movie seem more comical while still retaining seriousness. More editing is shown when Tony test's out the suit for the first time and crashes down onto a car, the shot changes from the cars to Tony falling at high speed.

What we find out about the plot:  Tony stark is first in Afghanistan, with a team of U.S soldiers, in these first few scenes he is portrayed as a megalomaniac, who thinks that by attacking Afghanistan with dozens of missiles will achieve peace. after this Tony gets captured by a terrorist group, and forced to make them objects, such as armour and weapons. he gets saved eventually and makes his way back to New York, this leads to a new chapter in Tony's life where he makes a new suit of armour and turns into the hero iron-man and finds a romantic love interests in the role of his assistant pepper.
